A plain summary of how lessons, payment and cancellations work. If anything here is unclear, just ask.
Booking and Payment
Lessons must be paid for in advance. If payment has not been received before a lesson, the lesson will not go ahead.
Rates are per hour or per 45 minute lesson, depending on year group and level, as set out on the pricing page.
Rates may be reviewed from time to time. Any change will be communicated in advance and will not apply to lessons already paid for.
Cancellations and Rescheduling
At least 24 hours notice is needed to cancel or reschedule a lesson.
Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours notice may be charged a £10 cancellation fee, to reflect the reserved time and lesson preparation. Genuine emergencies will always be considered fairly.
If a student has not joined the lesson within 15 minutes of the start time and has not been in contact, the lesson will be treated as cancelled and the usual cancellation terms will apply.
If I need to cancel or reschedule a lesson, I will give as much notice as possible and offer an alternative time. If a suitable alternative cannot be arranged and the lesson has already been paid for, this will be credited towards your next lesson.
Online Lessons
Online lessons take place over video call, using a platform agreed together in advance.
A stable internet connection and a quiet space help lessons run smoothly, but occasional technical issues are understood and will be worked around.
Home Visits
I hold a full DBS check, the same standard that applies to online lessons as well as home visits.
For younger students, or for a first lesson with a new family, having a parent or guardian in the home is welcomed and often reassuring for everyone.
Safeguarding and Conduct
I am committed to providing a safe, respectful and encouraging environment for every student.
Any concerns can be raised with me directly at any time.
